Hi! – my name is Samuel Reimer. I’m originally from Hamburg, Germany, but completed my engineering studies in London and Munich. I just submitted my PhD thesis and before I start my career as an engineer, I decided to travel across Africa by car.
In late 2016 my father and I set out to drive from Walvis Bay, Namibia, back home to Hamburg. In what was supposed to just be a small travel diary has turned into a passion for writing and photography. Launched in 2017, this site is for travel enthusiasts, backpackers, overlanders and anyone else for that matter who enjoys and shares my enthusiasm for fine art, wildlife, nature and travel photography. I consider myself no more than an amateur photographer, having picked up photography as a serious hobby in 2015. But my intent is to improve my skills every time I take the camera into my hands.
I’m using Nikon’s remarkable D800E with:
- 15-30 f/2.8
- 24-70 f2.8
- 70-300 f/4-5.6
- 50-500 f/4-5.6
- 50 f/1.4
I process everything in Adobe Lightroom. I rarely use Photoshop as I prefer to keep away from cloning and retouching, to keep things as natural as possible.
